Why you heard from me

You did not sign up for anything. I found your business, thought the thing I build might be useful to it, and got in touch. That is cold outreach, and calling it anything else would be dishonest.

Most people who do this will not tell you where they got your number. This page does, because if I am going to interrupt your day uninvited, the least I can do is answer the obvious questions without you having to ask them.

Make it stop

Say so, in any of the three places. “Stop”, “take me off your list”, or a straight no on the phone — all of them end it immediately and permanently, and none of them needs a reason. You will not be asked to confirm, and you will not hear from me again on any channel.

Where I got your details

Your public Google Maps listing, your own website, and your public Instagram profile. That is the whole list.

What I keep is the business name, the phone number and Instagram handle published on your site or listing, the website itself, the address, the listing’s rating and review count and category, the booking software I could identify from your public pages, and roughly when you last posted. Every one of those is something any customer could see. The only thing I did that a customer would not is look at several hundred businesses at once.

Things I have not done: bought a list, used a service that guesses contact details from a person’s name and a domain, pulled anything from a data broker, scraped anything behind a login, or gone looking for a personal number rather than a business one.

How many times

Five at the very most, over twelve days: a call, an Instagram DM two days later, a second call, a text, and a last call. Then nothing, whatever happens. There is no sixth, and there is no second run at you next quarter.

Any reply ends it on the spot, including a one-word no. So does asking me to stop.

How the calls and texts work

Every call is dialled by hand, by me. There is no autodialer, no prerecorded message, no ringless voicemail and no call centre. If you pick up, you are talking to the person who would build the thing.

Texts are sent to the business number published on your listing, from a registered business number, and they carry no links. I call during business hours in your own timezone — never before 8am or after 9pm local, and in practice between 9 and 4.

Instagram DMs go to your business account and follow Meta’s platform terms. One message, one follow-up at most.

Why yours

I build one narrow thing — booking systems for studios and clinics whose scheduling needs are more specific than the big platforms handle — so contacting people at random would waste their time and mine. Before getting in touch I looked at your booking flow the way one of your clients would, and what I say is what I actually found. If I mention your software, or a fee, or a step that loses people, that is because I went and looked, not because a script had a slot for it.

Sometimes I am wrong about what I found. Tell me and I will take the correction — and stop contacting you.

The legal part

Calls and texts to businesses in the US are governed by the TCPA and by state telemarketing law. What that means in practice here: manual dialling only, no automated technology, business numbers only, calling hours respected, and any do-not-call request honoured immediately and kept honoured.

If you are a California resident, the information I hold about your business is personal information under state law and you have the right to see it, correct it or have it deleted. The privacy page covers those rights and how long anything is kept.

One exception worth stating plainly: if you ask me to stop, I keep enough to recognise you afterwards — the business name and number. Deleting it outright would let a future list quietly put you back in. It is used for nothing but making sure you are never contacted again, and you can ask me to delete that too, knowing what it means.

I no longer send cold email at all. If you had an email from me before September 2026, that channel is retired and nothing further will arrive from it.
